Summer salary for faculty on an Academic Year (AY) contract is capped at 33 1/3% of the faculty Institutional Base Salary (IBS). During the summer months, Georgia State University (GSU) Guidance for charging Summer Salary allows for faculty to charge up to 30% of IBS to sponsored projects. A summer salary payroll certification form must be completed if requesting more than 30% of summer salary from sponsored funded projects.
Please sign and submit this completed form to your Dean/Chair for approval. Departments must receive an approved copy of this form before processing the summer salary request and must maintain a copy of the approved form.

I am requesting more than 30% of summer pay for the upcoming summer from the sources listed on the attached form. I understand the regulations regarding summer compensation, including those expressly noted below.
During the summer period for which I am requesting summer salary support, I will be working full-time and performing work directly related to the sponsored projects that will cover my summer pay.
I will not work on research proposals.
I will not be taking vacation/personal time off during any weeks I receive summer salary.
I will not be performing any academic or administrative duties.
I understand that if my summer plans change, I must request, at that time, a corresponding change to my summer compensation.
I understand that I must certify per the University’s effort certification procedures that I have worked on the sponsored research projects during the summer period for which I receive summer salary and for time for which I have been compensated.
